The gold standard in AI management, testing, and certification.

RESPONSIBLE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (RAI)

Responsible AI means your systems are safe, transparent, and accountable, with humans firmly in control. It’s how you prove to customers, partners, and regulators that your AI won’t cause harm, that decisions can be explained, and that risk is actively managed. Organizations that adopt RAI build trust faster, move through due-diligence with less friction, and win more complex deals.

Scope of RAI Certification

RAI evaluates AI across the full lifecycle—design, data, model, deployment, and monitoring—alongside your people, processes, and controls. We examine how decisions are made, how they are explained, and who is accountable when things go wrong. Our work is organized around five pillars that make responsible AI practical and measurable.

At the core is a simple rule:

Do no harm—to users, the public, or your organization.

Fairness & Bias Control:

We look for biased outcomes across groups, assess datasets and features for hidden proxies, and recommend thresholds, tests, and remediation plans.

Data Protection & Security:

We map data flows, verify access governance and key management, test web/API surfaces, and review logging, detection, and incident response.

Transparency & Explainability:

We require usable model documentation, human-readable decision rationales, user notices that inform choice, and auditable decision trails.

Operational Safety & Reliability:

We check robustness under stress, readiness to roll back, monitoring for drift and anomalies, and clear runbooks for recovery.

Human Accountability & Oversight:

We confirm clear ownership, defined approval gates, escalation paths, and human ability to intervene or halt deployment.

What the Organization Receives

Responsible AI Certification (24 months)
Formal confirmation that your program conforms to the Gates AI Responsible Artificial Intelligence Framework, valid for 24 months with surveillance checks to ensure controls keep working as you scale.

RAI Trust Seal (with usage terms)
A verification seal for your website, proposals, and reports. Clear usage terms prevent misuse; the seal signals independent assurance to customers, procurement teams, and regulators.

Independent Assessment Report
A plain-language report you can act on: gap analysis mapped to controls, a risk heatmap of what matters most, prioritized remediation with owners and timelines, and evidence requirements for closure.

Verification & Registry Listing (opt-in)
QR-verifiable public listing so partners and customers can confirm your certification status, scope, and validity in seconds—no back-and-forth needed.

Surveillance & Continuous Oversight
Scheduled surveillance checks during the 24-month period to confirm fixes stay fixed, models remain stable, and monitoring catches drift and bias early.

Executive Briefing Pack
Board-ready slides summarizing findings, decisions taken, and the improvement roadmap—built for audits, regulators, and major customer reviews.

Implementation Manifesto
A practical “how-to” for embedding Responsible Artificial Intelligence in daily work: governance roles, policy templates, approval gates, KPIs and targets, monitoring routines, incident handling, and disclosure patterns.

Closure Verification & Re-test
Evidence-based sign-off when findings are closed, with targeted re-tests to prove controls work under real conditions—not just on paper.

How the RAI Assessment Works

We begin with Scoping (about a week): identify systems and owners, map data flows, agree evidence, and confirm timelines. Testing & Audit follows (two to four weeks): fairness and privacy assessments, security testing, document and notice reviews, and interviews with accountable owners.

We then deliver Findings & Closure: a risk heatmap, prioritized fixes, and verification support. With critical issues closed, we issue Certification & Seal, with optional registry listing for public verification.

Certification Timeline

Assessment Planning (≈1 week):

scope, access, and plan confirmed.

System Testing & Audit (≈2–4 weeks):

evidence review, technical testing, and interviews.

Certification Issuance (<30 days):

certificate, Seal rules, and final report delivered after closure of critical findings.

Legal & Usage

The RAI Trust Seal may be used only for the certified scope and validity period and requires active registry status. Misuse can result in suspension or withdrawal. Certificates may be revoked for fraud, misrepresentation, or policy breach. © Gates Digital Pte Ltd — Gates AI Division. All rights reserved.

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

Is this only for tech firms?

No. RAI is designed for any organization that uses AI—finance (credit scoring, fraud), healthcare (triage, diagnostics), retail (recommendations, pricing), logistics (routing, demand planning), manufacturing (quality control, predictive maintenance), mobility (AV stacks, telematics), education (adaptive learning), and public sector (benefits, permitting). We tailor controls to your risk profile, users, and regulatory environment so the assessment is relevant—not “one size fits all.”

Yes. We evaluate prompt/data handling, safety filters, IP and privacy safeguards, output risks (hallucinations, defamation, toxicity), disclosure to end-users, fine-tuning and RAG pipelines, content review workflows, and human oversight. We also check your policies for acceptable use, customer disclosures, and takedown/escalation procedures.

Expect candor and a fix path. You’ll receive a risk heatmap, root-cause analysis, and prioritized remediation plan (owner + timeline + evidence needed). We verify closure. Critical issues must be resolved before certification. Non-critical items may be tracked with deadlines and surveillance follow-ups. The goal is better systems—not “gotchas.”

Twenty-four (24) months from issuance, subject to surveillance checks. If you change models materially (new training data, new use case, higher impact), notify us—significant changes may require a targeted review to keep your Seal active.

Yes. We certify single systems or full portfolios. We’ll group similar use cases, set clear system boundaries, and phase the audit so the highest-risk systems move first while the rest progress on a planned path toward certification.

ISO/IEC 42001 is a management system standard focused on processes and continual improvement. RAI is a practice-focused framework that examines what your AI actually does—fairness, explainability, privacy, safety, and human oversight in use. Many clients use both: ISO 42001 for their AI management system and RAI to prove outcomes and earn the Trust Seal.

Typically: data flow diagrams, access controls, retention/deletion procedures, model cards and evaluation reports, fairness and robustness test results, incident/rollback runbooks, user notices and help text, DPIA/PIA style documents, and security artifacts (logs, pen test results). We minimize operational burden and accept existing evidence where fit-for-purpose.

We work on a strict NDA. We aim to review artifacts in your environment where possible, restrict data exports, and favor redacted samples. Security testing is scheduled, scoped, and documented. Only necessary personnel access your materials. You control and revoke access at any time.

You may display the Seal for the certified scope and validity period (e.g., product page, proposals, investor decks). You must link to the verification page or provide the Certificate ID for real-time status. Misuse (wrong scope, expired status, implying product certification) can trigger suspension or withdrawal.

Activate your incident process, notify affected stakeholders, and inform us promptly. We may run a special review to confirm root cause, remediation, and user protections. If controls remain effective post-fix, your certification continues. If risk is uncontrolled, we can suspend the Seal until verification is complete.
