The Forum helps bridge policy, technology and ethics by bringing actors from diverse sectors to the table (governments, private sector, academia, civil society).
To assess where the world stands in implementing the UNESCO Recommendation and to bring focus to inclusive development of AI — ensuring that AI benefits reach all countries and populations, not just a few.
To engage national governments, industry, academia and civil society in multi-stakeholder dialogue, setting the stage for global cooperation on ethical AI governance.
To highlight and introduce tools for policy implementation such as the Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) and Ethical Impact Assessment (EIA) frameworks developed by UNESCO.
It created momentum by bringing together diverse regions (Global North + Global South) and emphasizing that countries at different technological/regulatory maturity levels must be part of the conversation.
For nations and organisations, the Forum provided a signal: ethical AI governance is becoming mainstream and expected. Early adopters and collaborators will likely gain advantage.
